Would Hakeem Olajuwon Have Abused Tim Duncan The Same Way He Did David Robinson If They Met In Their Primes?

By NBA Rumors Posted in: Tim Duncan

TD replaces Robinson in 1994-1995…does Hakeem own Duncan like he did Robinson in the playoffs?

  1. Wilton Chamberlain Says

    No!
Tim Duncan was more mobile as a defender (than Robinson) and an unstoppable offensive force.
I remember when TD first came to the Spurs and Robinson admitted that he could not guard him in practices!
TD in his prime was every bit as good as Hakeem on both ends of the floor! Look at his 4 rings if you don’t beleive me!
TD’s play-off stats are just as good or better than Hakeems!
    They were both great!
No way Hakeem abuses a prime TD!
I would have loved to see it, I think they would have played each other basically even!

  2. R. H Says

YES. Olajuwon had the best footwork of any center I’ve ever seen. He seemed to glide around the basket effortlessly. I think playing soccer at a young age contributed greatly to his agility.

It would have been a better matchup than Hakeem vs Robinson, but the Dream was too much for anyone. Ask Shaq when he was abused by Hakeem in the finals.

  5. SHBearka Says

Probably so. Little known fact: Hakeem ate up Shaq in the finals.

  6. You’re Next Says

No question. Hakeem was a SG playing C!
