Lin Is Good, But Not That Good?

By NBA Rumors Posted in: Chris Paul

Okay, so first time I heard about Lin I was like…zomg who is this guy? He asian too like me! cool!
Got all hyped up so I started watching him play…after watching 3-4 games, I realized he’s not that good…
He makes so many silly turnovers. He’s not that fast and other players can just yank the ball away from him.
I’m still waiting for Knicks to play the strong teams like Heat, Clippers, 76s, etc…all those teams that have big guys and good pointguards like chris paul. I want to see how Lin does against those teams.
Lin can shoot though, he’s very good at that.

  1. LeBron James is the Best-Reppin Says

Yeah I think turnovers are his biggest problem so far. He looks like a good player so far, but like u said lets see how he does against the better teams in the league. Like Dallas on Sunday and the mighty Heat Thursday

  2. Jim Bobby Says

He is being overhyped a little. If he wasn’t being overhyped by news outlets he would have hardly any haters. I mean, he’s led the knicks on a 7 game win streak and scored more points in first 5 starts than any player in history.
You’re right though. His turnover rate is way too high, and his high scoring will probably settle down. Still though, I think he’ll average 15 points and 8 assists throughout his career. And his turnovers will go down. Also he has the talent to put up a big game on any given night. And he’s clearly not afraid of the spotlight or taking a game winning shot.

  3. Eddie H Says

I think Lin is pretty good, but the media made him look like
the greatest player ever. so when casual fans trying to see
this kid (with out looking at the stats) he is just an above
average player. he is not even top 5 pg right now in NBA.
but he is good, just not Great.

  4. Anonymous Says

The hype machine is definitely making him over rated. However, what he is doing is incredible and fun to watch.

  5. Kibby Says

Lin is GOAT. He will win 6 rings.

  6. Orlando Says

    to early to tell

  7. . Says

So what if he turnsover the ball the way he does. As someone who’s actually played college ball and has been a student of the game, it means jack. He turns the ball over because he controls the ball all the time and for 40+ minutes a game. Second, it’s a faster paced game under D’Antoni. Third, he drives to the basket as much as Rondo. You’re bound to get TOVs if you do that.
If you’re complaining about the Sac game, he also had 13 AS in 24 minutes. People who actually appreciate real basketball would enjoy that game more than any of the ones he’s had. He made everyone better. Seven players scored in double digits and Chandler had 9. That is real ball. It boosts everyone’s confidence and they end up playing harder on D. That’s what a real PG does.
Also, speed isn’t everything. Otherwise, why isn’t Brooks the top PG in the league? Size matters as much as speed. It allows you to see the court better and post up if your shot isn’t falling. It also helps from getting butchered and manhandled but the D. But he is deceptively quick because he’s good at dribbling low. That allows you to switch speeds instantly without that split second give-away. The NBA has a lot of fast and rangy guards so every split second counts.
I’ve been watching ball for 30 freaking years. Lin’s game is impressive. If he can sustain this pace, till the end, I think he’s a top 5 PG, easily.
Leave the opinions to people who actually know basketball.
